I will go one step farther, the racing would be much better. Off throttle time is what creates good racing (the guy who can get back to the gas the quickest wins); with all the downforce you are hardly out of the throttle. Hold it wide open and see who has the biggest billfold. Downside is that they young racers would have to learn how to drive with the brake, gas, and steering wheel.... Not sure they can do it or would even try.

Anyone here familiar with the romans 🤔 arpin may be a great Buisness person but he's been a big part of what will ultimately kill dirt latemodel racing. The question is will he time his exit correctly or fall with it all. I have nothing against lh but their growth is not sustainable in my opinion. Especially since they seem to cater exclusively to the upper echelons and could care less about the regional racer

The part he has played is he created a better mousetrap and everyone seems to think they have to have it, respectfully that is not his 'fault'. I am guessing you are not a customer of Longhorn as their customer service has been nothing but top notch for me, and I am a nobody in the sport. Yes, their service costs money- but have yet to have them steal my billfold or force me to buy a part.

In my opinion the issues go way beyond a single car builder, but to the tracks and series themselves. Put rules in that promote better racing (get rid of the aero), get your program done in a timely manner and entertain the fans (quit running 8 classes of cars, starting at 6:00 and ending after midnight). Someone will come along and take the top spot as Longhorn did, but they is just playing in the sandbox that is created for him. Can't begrudge someone for doing it better than their competitors. As for Dirt Late Model racing itself; the decline is nothing but a change in what people want. Way more choices for people today, the automobile is not the fascination it once was. Everything has a life cycle, they used to race horses in every county across the state I'm from and that doesn't seem to exist anymore...

I think part of the issue with the series is that they are listening to Arpin and others who don’t want changes and they think everything is kosher. They have no backbone to put their foot down and force changes or even enforce their own rules. If the series are the wardens and the builders are the prisoners, the prisoners are running the asylum. We need a Bob Memmer.

I completely agree with you, that was kind of my point. I don't hold it against Arpin or anyone else trying to get what they want, it is with the series and tracks folding to their 'demands'. Biggest thing Bob Memmer did was get everyone on the same page; unfortunately no one has been able to step up and help aim the ship. Trust me, I hate trying to load a race car that hits both sides of the trailer when you load it (and it hasn't been wrecked).
