Looked to me like Bruening was a little too bent to set up a crossover and drove right into traffic. Hoffman never touched him. I haven't seen Nick make many if any mistakes behind the wheel and he's far from a dirty driver.

Sliders are a binary compact between the slider and the slidee. Is there room? Will the slide be respected and will the other driver lift, and kill their own momentum? Will they stay in throttle and try the crossover? A lot of factors involved in one move and a lot of interpretation from those involved and those watching depending on where their loyalties align if things don't go according to plan.

I thought Hoffman handled himself well in his post race explanation and comments and he genuinely felt contrite about what happened behind him. It was an unfortunate mess.

Funny when watching the replay of both Deer Creek and Atomic the track at Deer Creek was in awesome shape for racing and one would not have expected torn up equipment. The track at Atomic looked to be well suited for racing trophy trucks or buggies and one would have expected carnage galore. All that bouncing alone is terrible on engines.

I’ve never raced but I’ve always felt if the slidee has to take evasive action it’s the sliders fault. That appears to be what happened in this case.

It was Nick's fault and he knew it. I don't see him as a dirty driver.

Nick even said himself that he did make contact with Bruening, that the contact stopped Bruening's left front tire from rotating causing Bruening to spin out in front of the field.
