I think it's pretty much all social media these days. Problem is you have idiots on there that went to their first race last week.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Believe his comment was about the website regularly being down for a week @ a time not the substance of conversations. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding your response?Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostI think it's pretty much all social media these days. This is a really good little forum, when it works. I've had a lot of fun coming on here and I appreciate all the good people who come on here and share things. I've learned some things from a good bunch of the posts and it is nice that dirt racing fans have a vibrant forum. Again, it comes down to - when it works. I would hate to see it go away cause of the other places I've checked, they aren't all that good and current on things. There are some smart, experienced and enthusiastic dirt racing people here to interact with. I'd hate to lose that. I appreciate 4m, but most of all I appreciate the 4m people on this forum.
Now once when it was down and up and up down I took a dive into the registered users list. Holy cow! Go look at how many registered users there are on 4m as a whole. There's thousands of user names and barely a few we would all recognize. There's a whole bunch of spammy/porny type stuff that gets into and around on 4m in general (Tailgate Section). There's probably a whole lot in the way of names and topics that could be simply deleted by moderators/adminitrators if they so desired to take the time to do so and that might make this a better place in that maybe the site wouldn't crash so much because that stuff is probably a source of the problems. I don't know who to ask to do that but for whomever does - decide to make a decision and go with it. Give it a try.Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

Social media has ruined it, and it has ruined so much more than just this site.
Way back when I was a kid there was barely any racing on the tube. You had to actually go to races to see something more than a few minutes edited in on Wide World of Sports. Even when NASCAR was able to get on the tube and get weekly coverage there was little else until ESPN and the cable networks came on. But for the news of racing you had to subscribe to racing papers.
I would get my monthly copy of Stock Car magazine, my weekly National Speed Sport News, and my seasonal Checkered Flag Racing News and Midwest Racing News. The papers were great. The stories, results, a few photos, editorials and the ads. When you read through one of those you knew what was happening in the way of schedules and shows and it was all in one place. It made it easy to plan for attending shows. The ads for the upcoming specials were great reminders of things you didn't want to miss.
Now for sure social media is fast and you can give instant feedback. But for all things that used to be aggregated in those great little racing papers, I have to search around to a whole lot of different social media sites for that. Unless I'm religiously checking a variety of stuff on the net, I find myself forgetting and missing some shows I've wanted to attend when I first viewed a schedule release many months earlier.
Papers aren't coming back. But a good forum can act in some ways like the papers of the past in the types of things it can provide in addition to discussion of topics.Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

I agree when it was down I kept checking everyday. I don't do to much social media so I come here just to see what everyone is talking about.Originally posted by Morgs153 View PostThis is a really good little forum, when it works. The OP was talking about the site being broke down all the time. Nothing to do with people going somewhere else for discussion or people being dumb. I don't get where you are coming from on this one.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post
