*New Era for Racing in West Virginia*

Elkins, WV – Today marks a significant milestone as Mike and Becky Hurley, esteemed proprietors of West Virginia Motor Speedway, have officially acquired Elkins Raceway. This pivotal move underscores their dedication to rejuvenating the racetrack and elevating the experience for drivers and fans alike.

Based in Goldvein, Virginia, the Hurleys have long been devoted to the world of dirt track racing. "Dirt track racing has always been my passion," Mike Hurley remarked. "This venture is not merely a business opportunity; it’s a chance to give back to the sport I cherish and to the supporters who make it all possible."

Excitement surrounds the potential of Elkins Speedway, with Mike stating, "Elkins, West Virginia, has the potential to become the Fairbury of the East. I am thrilled about this acquisition and believe it will transform racing in the region." The Hurleys intend to collaborate closely with their existing asset, West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, to foster a dynamic racing environment.

The couple also extended their heartfelt appreciation: "We would like to express our gratitude to everyone at Elkins Raceway for their dedication in keeping the track thriving over the past 12 years. Many friendships have been forged at this venue, and we are delighted to inherit a racetrack with such a welcoming atmosphere. The level of fan engagement here is unmatched across the United States. Elkins has much to be proud of."

Currently, the agreement for Elkins Speedway is in effect until the end of August, with plans for a potential race on September 13. Further details regarding this event and upcoming racing activities will be shared soon.

The Hurleys’ vision for Elkins Speedway includes a comprehensive revamp of the racing framework, featuring clearer regulations, regular technical inspections, and the introduction of new concession stands and amenities. These upgrades are designed to enhance the overall event experience while ensuring a fair and competitive racing environment.

As they embark on this exciting venture, the Hurleys look forward to engaging with the local community and racing fans, ensuring that Elkins Speedway flourishes as a central hub for thrilling racing action.

Wishing the Hurley's all the best as they venture into track ownership. Always told people if they wanted to know what Interstate/I-79 speedway was like just go to Elkins because it hasn't changed in 50 years. Old gal could use a little face lift.
