On the fence about about potentially going this weekend... Typically how good is the racing at PPMS? Am I better watching on Flo? This is not a 'you should spend the money at the track' thing as if I don't spend it on hotels and transportation on this trip, I'll spend it on another trip (perhaps the DTWC at Eldora or the dome in December). I just like to see good racing when I'm dropping a few hundred shekels to go to a distant event.
How good is the view from the grandstands? Can one float from the pit are to the grandstands easily?

Save your money and time for a smaller track. Watch it on Flo and pee in your own bathroom!

The view from the stands is probably the best in racing. No you can not access the pits easy from the stands. Once the racing starts they usually run a tight ship. The racing can get strung out at times but it is one of the faster tracks.

The track is too big, fast and wide. Normally gets single file. You cant run the top of the track any more since they put the wall in, its so flat in turn 3 and 4. Prices are very high 50/75 for a pit pass. Id say watch it on flo.

Track is huge paper clip type, smooth very fast. Big grandstand, great view of track, very steep aisles, be careful where you step the boards were not in the best condition, would be long drop to bottom. Looks like facility was built in 60s or early 70s, racing was ok, nothing special. Pits are on backside if track and in the middle, take a while to get into. Good luck.

I compare the configuration/shape of the track itself to Knoxville. Wide, sweeping corners with a little more banking and slightly larger than a half-mile. Track conditions tend to be a lot drier and slicker than what you typically see at Knoxville.

Agree, Knoxville is gummy, sticky vs PPMS dry slick, both more 5/8 than half. We drove 12 hours to the Pittsburger and the locals laughed at us, lol.... they did have a tasty breakfast menu.

Yes the general admission tickets are priced way to high should be $35 like a lot of other races

Thanks to everyone for all the input. I took a good look at aerials and it doesn't seem like you can meander to/from the pits like you can easily do at Georgetown, Port Royal, Fairbury, and a host of other tracks.
I'll watch the race on Flo and start looking for cheap flights to somewhere within 100 miles of Eldora, the dome, or somewhere else during the event's downtime... Can't wait for the LOLMAS, WoO, Flo, and the rest of the 2026 schedules to pop!

The total purse for the weekend is well over $200,000. Be thankful the current owner took over the track a few years ago and continues to make improvements because it was going to be closed most likely. I know of at least 3 to 4 race tracks that are permanently closing after this year. Get out and support your local race track this weekend.
