So, I watched Zack's interview after the B/G 100 and was curious about his "PC" comment. "I'll keep things politically correct and not say what I want to, but in my opinion we won the race and the championship". Anyone know the background on his comment? Sounds like he feels he was "wronged"...

The series DQ'ed him from his Sept 27th victory at Southern Raceway due to a failed tire test. The DQ was announced on the Friday right before the Blue Gray 100.

Crybaby comment made out of frustration while the emotion was still fresh. If you break the rules and get caught, take it like an adult and accept responsibility. The lab doing the testing doesn’t have anything to do with the HTF series.

I've always wondered why they don't take a before race sample (whole main event field) and after the race sample from whoever they're taking them from now (top 3) then they can't be any excuses.

No. the samples are just a sliver cut with a grooving iron.

I know Eldora did it once before, but how viable is it for these big $ races to just make you buy tires at the track. All A main qualifiers have to put on fresh tires bought at the track that night. Right before the feature. I know it'd take some time, but is only way to really prevent the tire cheating game.

Why can't I cheat it after I buy it?

Everyone can say what they want, think what they want, or believe what they want but the tire test seem to be accepted by the racers and hopefully fairly accurate. I am sure some have gotten by the test, probably had a false positive or two as well; however no way to make anything bulletproof without going to an extreme that the series could not possibly maintain. I always remember the tire test does not say someone is cheating- simply points out the chemicals in the tire are not consistent with the chemicals in the known sample; why that is so is up to the series to decide.

You'd have to do it in staging & then go straight to the track. That's the only way to really prevent the tire cheat game. Any lapse of time & as you mentioned the magic potion can be applied.

I know a guy that runs Supers, Limited, and crate races here in the SE since about 2010 and has won his fair share of races. Remember him posting this on FB several years back.

"Everyone is throwing off on Blue Ridge Labs. Since around 2010 I have personally had probably 30 tire samples from multiple tracks across multiple states with multiple series taken and every one of them was sent to blue ridge. I have only ever been thrown out on tires one time over the years and that was the only time we ever had a sample sent to them that I knew was wrong when I signed the little sealed baggie. I was wrong and I was thrown out, when I was right I was never thrown out."

Guys are always pushing the limits with this stuff. I know of an asphalt late model team that has tested several concoctions and then privately had tires tested to see how far they can push the envelope. I wouldn't be surprised if some dirt teams do this as well.
