As was discussed when Lucas announced their Speedweeks schedule some time ago, Volusia does not need two different weekends for WoO late models. The racers want more of a break. Second, it will be odd for the second week not to take place the same week as the Daytona 500 this year. I don't know if they weren't aware the 500 would be a weekend later because of the calendar or are choosing a weekend and sticking with it every year.

Late models in 2026 run thru Feb. 14, Daytona 500 is on Feb. 15. It's 2027 when the Daytona will move because of Super Bowl conflict.

Think you're a year off. Of course, Volusia will know when the Daytona 500 weekend will be.

Daytona International Speedway announced today that the 69th running of the DAYTONA 500 will take place on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2027.

Agreed. Wish they would’ve done away with the Jan. event. At the same time, there is a bigger gap created by Lucas moving to the back side of Speedweeks so it doesn’t seem quite so bad. A great call by Lucas. Will be supporting a few of those events along with several at Volusia prior. Volusia is always our main spot. The big time Late Models have become such a draw, they’ll be successful with these later dates. I think those they attend a lot of these events will tell you, they’re getting bigger crowds than maybe ever. I know James Essex is on here and I bet he’ll attest.
