It ain't for everybody but must be for a lot of people as they keep having a great turn out every year. I find it entertaining. Has there been a race this year that pulled more SLMs (133)?

Probably not. There's zero competition, and in theory, it's the best shot a little guy has. I think a guy could build a car specific for the event and really do some something. Granted, it requires getting the right people to let you in, as it's invite now. You definitely don't need a SLM and not all of them will be.

Just take it for what it is. It's a fun event in the winter. And at times has put on some good racing. If only they could get the track to hold together a little better such that it isn't a cornfield by the final day. Probably not possible to pull off when they build the track 7 to 10 days out from the event.

Chili Bowl starts building the track a month or more out from the Chili Bowl & then has the Tulsa Shootout micro event in late December to help work the track in.

Just be prepared for big crowds in small area. High concessions an restaurants nearby are packed an just dragged out shows. Racing n atmosphere is good. An if ur upper bowl bring mask as ventilation sucks.

The Don O'Neal interview from a couple years ago ranks right there with one my favorite interviews ever.

I take it for what it is. I liked the idea at first.

I prefer to stay home and watch it on a 70" big screen myself. Not dissing the event at all but for all the reasons t4g2 said, it's just more enjoyable that way. The down time between fixing the fencing makes it a no brainer for me. I went to the inaugural event and will say it has improved greatly since then. The track configuration is much better and the dirt seems to hold up better as far as ruts and holes. The Flo production end is top notch and makes you feel like you're inches away from the action not to mention the instant replays. It's nice to be able to get up and do other things when they are repairing the fence as well.
It seems to have become a do not miss event for the late model guys as pert near every quality late model driver is in attendance.

                        Zero competition, I think not.

I think he was meaning zero competition from other events contributing to one of the highest late model car count events for the year.

Regardless of the speed it's good racing! Best racing you'll find this time of year. Very entertaining and well worth the trip...

I just saw Kenny Wallace say they’ve sold 38,000 tickets. thats gotta be a pretty decent increase from past years.
