    Bucket list Motorsports?

If you had ONE bucket list track or event racing wise, what would it be?

I ask, 1.) knowing I’ve been very fortunate over the years nailing a lot of the envied race tracks and races that I’ve wanted to go too, and was wondering what your personal short list of ONE would be, and 2.) I have the opportunity to go to the Isle of Man TT and that might be my last big hurrah before I’m too old. Would you go, or do something different?

At my age and location if i'm picking one event i have never attended it would be the entire week of IMCA Super Nationals at Boone. And since i'm making a week out of it i'm getting there the weekend before for the Prelude to the Super Nationals

i grew up in central iowa and did this week for years. It is racing daily from 1pm til past midnight. there is usually a couple of days of heavy rain which leads to very wet grounds as it is very flat on the grounds. take lots of extra clothes. take a good seat cushion, ear protection, GET HYDRATED every morning and keep it that way. have fun if you do it.

i would probably stay at the farm i grew up at. also would have the option of hanging with several racers i know that attend.

Just in case you haven't checked it out. An entertaining podcast featuring 3 all in race fans/participants/officials from Boone Speedway. these guys make my hour long commute to work fun:

And you don't need to be from the area to enjoy. the stories they tell apply to every local racetrack in the country.

I'm with you on the Isle of Man race Lurker. Something I've always said I was gonna do before I kicked the bucket. That race is total insanity.

Since you seem to enjoy all forms of motorsports even if drag racing isn't your cup of tea. I think any motorsports fan should attend a nhra top fuel event at least once. The shear power and speed of those cars is insane. Aside from that boone seems like it would be a blast and pretty much any event at Marshall Town has to be on the list

Isle of Man TT would be high on my list. Chili Bowl is the only domestic race that I really care about that I haven't seen at least once.

Just this year I went to the Little 500 & did the final 2 days of the Boone Supernationals. Both were fun. I really enjoyed the trip to Boone. Weather was a bit chilly but dry so everything stayed on schedule (still took 12 hours each day). A metric TON of racing but it is well organized & runs pretty smoothly. The way they have scheduled breaks after every 10 heat races gives you ample time to let the backside rest, get food & drink, use the bathroom, etc so the 12 hour marathon doesn't seem so bad. The racing was very good. On the Friday show the best race of the entire day was the 69th & final race of the night. A stock car qualifying feature where the winner came from 22nd & 4th came from like 30th or something. Speaks to how well prepped the track is to hold up for that long & still put on great racing.

I checked off a huge one for me by racing at Eldora in 2025. I can't wait to go back in 2026.

I absolutely agree. I’m mostly on oval track guy, but every motorsports fan needs to go see top Fuelers and funny cars at least once. It’s an unbelievable show.
