Racing has always been full of shady character. I had a former crew chief tell me that over half of the money in dirt late model racing in the 80's was dirty money.

Taking a look at the empty stands and 6 figure purses at a lot of races the same probably applies today.

NASCAR was built on dirt money. Look it up.

And then they got away from racing and screwed it up with gimmicks to please the new fans instead of the fans that got them there.

then the fake fans left. the gimmicks remained. and then the old fans left.

next thing you know you can't watch a race without paying for some 3rd rate steaming network.

at least dirt racing will still have local tracks. won't be getting rich. but they will still do it for the love of racing.

It's not dirt, but netflix had a show a few years back about Randy Lanier, the sports car/Indy car driver in the 80's who funded his operation by smuggling marijuana from Columbia. Some of the loads were north of $30 million. Did close to 30 years in prison when it was all said and done.

Wrong is wrong. Braun deserves it at the end of the day. He had some good ideas,and introduced me and others to some good tracks in the Midwest under the radar. There was racing at Pennsboro again.

He ripped people off,however. Plain and simple.

I've been around people like this all my life. Get caught doing something like this,and go to jail. Go belly up,go bankrupt,and come back and do it over again. Meanwhile,you're out there working to make an honest living and pay your bills. People like this always seem to have nicer stuff than you do. High rollers if you will. I was always taught to live beneath your means.

I noticed months ago that DoD removed their events from the National touring schedule page.

Warrior Race Cars still features Dale McDowell and Mike Spatola on their home page... When was the last time either of those guys drove a Warrior? 🤔🤔🤔
