Listen I know I am in the minority on this event, seeing the teams going all out with wraps and getting 30-35,000 fans is great, but it's nothing I will ever attend. I want to see racing. JMO.

Agreed - the top handful of teams already win all the big races during the year. This event is the one megapurse event with a legit shot for an off the radar type to win. Doing the redraw based on best pit stop slants it back to the corner of the more professional teams. Makes it more likely a big dog is gonna start on the pole & less likely that a lesser known would start on front row. And that track is such that the redraw might be the race deciding moment.

My wife asked 'what the heck are they doing with this pit stop competition?', I replied 'adding to the purse'....didn't care for it but do appreciate the extra money I am sure was added.

The pit stop contest is really just a time filler with all the track prep and fence repairs necessary at this "event." It beats watching dead airtime.

Everybody would rather be annoyed by drunken race fan interviews. Is it entertaining? No. At least they are trying something to pass the time.
