One thing they did right is keep it tight geographically... Only 222 miles to from the first race to the last. You can even hit Joe's Mini Mart for $5 on the diesel and a $20 scratcher a few times if you want to...

As much as I love racing, I would find a different sport if they ran that many classes at my local tracks.

Not on a Tuesday when everyone worked all day and has to work again the next morning.

This isn’t the first time”Kentucky Speed Week”. Several years ago, there was a Speed Week here and the winner got a spot in the North/South 100.

Can’t speak for his track but one of the tracks in my area, Toccoa Raceway, runs the following 8 weekly classes.


• 602 Late Model

• FWD (Front Wheel Drive)

• Limited Late Model

• Modified Street

• Open Wheel Modified

• Pro Trucks

• Sharpe Mini Late Models

• Stock 4

• Stock 8


Hartwell Speedway ran the following 9 classes last year. Not sure about this upcoming season.


• 602 Late Model

• FWD (Front Wheel Drive)

• Limited Late Model

• Modified Street

• Young Guns (Stock 4 for 17 and under)

• Sharpe Mini

• Stock 4

• Stock 8

• Crown Vics

My local Asphalt track runs 9 classes but not every event.
