Announced this morning on Bubba's radio show. Jonathan Davenport is running Thurs Fri and Saturday for the Lucas Oil races at Bubba (now Ocala) Speedway. Was agreed that he can bring his t shirt trailer and he gets a promoter provisional if he doesn't make the show. This will be his only appearance for Florida speedweeks.

I don't disagree. He did comment that it is no points rewarded. It is considered a 'promoters provisional"Originally posted by BTExpress View PostI guess he gets those perks because technically the LOLMS has not started their season, but if it happens in the middle of the summer, I'd be pissed if I was one of the other tour drivers......

I guess Bubba has that in his arsenal- but I totally disagree with it.
Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will be there- but definitely not at his t-shirt trailer.

I'd guess that Ocala wants him more than JD wants Ocala. Without East Bay the Lucas portion of Speed weeks has gone down hill.

Wonder how much show up $$ Bubba is paying him?
This will happen at various tracks throughout the year.

He's leveraging his team's value the same way Scott did for many years. Scott got a USA Nationals track provisional at times, its a promoter doing what's best for their event.
Other teams will probably be upset about the provisional deal, but they are giving up the winners circle and point fund money not running a series, so they are back-filling that income loss.

Exactly!
like NIL in college sports!
But how many people in Florida will decide to now go to Ocala because the #49 will be there?

It would be interesting to find out from him if his schedule this year is because Lucas runs most of their races many hours from his house, primarily in the Midwest. I saw a while back some of the tracks he wants to race at this year and most of them are just a few hours from his house with similar payouts. We've seen a couple of other drivers from the South switch to WoO and drivers from the Midwest switch to Lucas.
