North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Ga. I was 15 or 16 I think.

When I was about 14, my neighbors took me to Butler Motor Speedway, a dirt track in Michigan, to see a sprint car race. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I’d say it was a life changing event. This was about 1980 or so. That same neighbor’s boss was a sprint car driver, Gary Fedewa. I grew up hearing Gary Fedewa stories. Good times.

My parents took me to my first race at Hartwell Speedway (GA) when I was 4 months old. 1st one I actually remember attending was Lavonia Speedway (GA) in 1990 (Age 4). It had just been switched to asphalt for the time being.

I instantly rooted for Fredrick Moore in Late Models just simply because he had an orange car and that was my favorite color.

Sycamore Speedway had just change it's name from Bob Jo Speedway

It was 1971, I was 10.

There was guys like Dennis Erb senior, Bob Kelly...

But my favorite was Arnie Gardner.

It's Not the first track i ever went to but north Georgia was the first place i ever drove a racecar !

Where? Golden Sands Speedway (between Plover and Wisconsin Rapids, WI). High banked 1/3 asphalt track which was relatively new at the time.

Age? Maybe 5 or 6

Memorable driver? D!ck Trickle. Became a lifetime fan of his from that day on.

In 1968 my Dad took me to an Indy car race at Langhorne Speedway, Pa. I was 9 years old. Things were a lot different back then as the fans were allowed in the pits after the races. I got to sit in Bobby Unser's #3 Rislone sponsored car. He had just won The Indy 500 a few weeks before with the same car. I have been a race fan ever since.
