Because it was to many miles between Macon and its next stop, Springfield Mo. Yet they schedule Quincy followed by a trip to Oklahoma? If that aint a crock of sheet.

That is not the reason it was cancelled. They cancelled it because they could not get another track in that general area to race on the same weekend. It would make ZERO since to have a solo event in central Illinois for a series whose main driver base is located in southwestern Missouri.

Also, you are incorrect on the Quincy part of your post as well. The following is DIRECTLY from the Quincy Raceways Facebook page:

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT ON OUR UPCOMING SCHEDULE
We want to be open and honest with everyone, two unfortunate posts in one day is not how we wanted to start the season. With us having to cancel this Sunday April 19th’s Opening Night we have had to make a very hard but mutual decision with MLRA • Midwest Latemodel Racing Association. Both parties came to agreement that with the amount of dirt work that we have done this off season, 2 practices being cancelled and Mother Nature giving us barely enough time to host one weeknight practice, plus forcing us to cancel Opening night, a schedule change needed to be made.
With MLRA being one of the premier Midwestern Late Model Series we want nothing but the best experience for their drivers and supporters, our local fans, our local support class drivers, the MLRA series reputation, and Quincy Raceways’ reputation. That being said, the MLRA Late Model portion of April 26th’s program will be postponed to Sunday June 7th in order to provide our drivers and fans the best possible racing surface we know we can produce. If we start the year with a bad experience it will likely take many weeks to recover, and we do not want to take that chance on our first week of the season. Moving to June allows a Davenport/Burlington/Quincy swing which also fits well into both schedules, more information will be released soon. We appreciate Ernie and the entire MLRA team plus our sponsors for working with us and understanding this difficult situation. We look forward to their return to the Broadway Bullring in June!
That being said, we are going to move the scheduled April 19th Opening Night program to next Sunday April 26th with a few adjustments to the class structure. UMP and IMCA will be notified so Regional and National points can be awarded, track points will still begin on May 3rd. Again we hate to have to make this decision but sometimes we must do what is best for the facility and our drivers. We can’t wait to see everyone at the track!

The show at Springfield has always been a stand alone event as it is the day after the Show-Me 100 and will draw a lot of cars from that event.

Also, Quincy was going to be the last of a 3 night run this upcoming weekend. Callaway on Friday, Farmington on Saturday and Quincy on Sunday.

Appreciate the clarification. It just gets frustrating the amount of times a series schedules Macon and then bails out on the date. Its a track that I always pencil.in on my calender when the dates are released.

Macon and tazewell both seem to get the raw deals anymore. The difference being, several drivers seem to support Macon. Tazewell seems to get good crowd support, but falls short on car counts. Both absolutely outstanding to go watch a race at.

I believe they both belong on a national schedule, mainly for the fan experience. We have seen how that goes for both places though.

Macon is one of my favorites also. I don't think they have done themselves any favorites the last couple of years with the track being so rough. I find it odd that they go to brownstown, Il and I-55 for 2 5k shows but can't go to Macon for a 10k show?

I totally understand that. Late Model races there are awesome.

One of the casualties of the sport moving into the "next level" is places like Macon get left behind. One thing that hurts them is they don't run late models weekly other than the crate class. So there isn't a solid group of locals to help support the travelling shows. And I know why they don't cause it's not economically feasible. And the track ownership changes in recent years have done them no favors either.

They are by no means alone, but it does feel as though it has been passed by.

Well, they had a Castrol FloRacing Night at Macon. And it was chaos. Watch this video and you'll understand why they only had one show there. I drove 2.5 hours to see it and was sitting in turn 4 when the melee happened. It sure drew all the big names.
