It looks like reducing the size of the track has proven to be the right call. The cars and fans are back. No one ever questioned the quality and amenities of the facility, it was the racing that was lacking because the track was WAY too big for today's type of racing. Hats off to see the" big ole track" doing well with the new reconfiguration.

I watched some of it on Flo last night. Needed more water early on. But it wasn't bad. It appears to be a track where the regional type guys would have a shot to run up front even when the Lucas series comes calling. TBH we need more tracks like that cause it seems every race on something bigger than 1/3 mile is won by one of the top handful on either Lucas or WoO.

Yep, the locals gave the big boys fits all evening. Nice to see Troutman snag the win. He dominated the whole race and managed to hold them all off even with the last 7 laps being multiple restarts. Gave him a renewed confidence I'm sure. Good to see Freddie show what he can still do with a nice second and Tyler likely would have been third if he hadn't beat his car to crap trying to wall Moran with a few to go. Entertaining show and even one of my goats that wandered into the shop seemed to like it and watched a few laps with me but I think he was really eyeballing the nice green "bleachers."

The WOO lates are there before Lucas. We'll see how much Bobby decides to tickle that armco guard rail. From the looks of some cars last night it doesn't seem very forgiving.

I seen a lot of hate regarding the track conditions even from a very known Lucas driver. We shouldn’t be judging a track based on day time conditions along with the amount of rain we’ve had this week. Can’t judge a track based on three races imo. Hell, the national tours still go to a bunch of terrible tracks every year, let Ricky cry some more.

It was definitely the right decision. They also did *most* of it correctly by completely tearing out the old track except for the back straight wall. Tracks like I-75 TN look awful with the old track rotting away outside of the new track.

The major flaw is that they didn't center the new track with the hillside and half the hillside seating is now outside of the track.

The racing wasn't that good at the first 2 races, but last Sunday was great. The Super Lates were running right against the outside wall, doing sliders etc.

During the first shortening attempt they only brought in 3 and 4 and lots of the hill was all by itself. The backstretch will look better when they get the grandstands and boxes up. They've done a lot in a very short time.

The hillside seating on those WV tracks looks cool as can be. Those old videos of Pennsboro make it look awesome even tho the racing was often subpar. WVMS is certainly the right size to put on some slam bang action & I'm sure for any big shows they have car count won't be a problem.

Right, the hillside was never centered with the track but when the track was bigger, the full hillside was along the track. Now half of the hillside is outside of the track

That hillside is big but because it’s terracedv off and people bring lawn chairs it doesn’t hold as many people as one would think. That means premium seating for the big events is going to be limited

They could have shifted this new track farther to the west and the entire hillside would’ve been in line with the track that would’ve put the flag stand at the end of the straightaway which would’ve made for more exciting finishes. IMO.
