Some of these race tracks have only ran about 7 races this year due to rain outs an not running ever Saturday night if they would run ever Saturday night they would realize that rain outs would give them.plenty of time off
Some tracks better wake up

If they haven't thrown the towel in already, they will. Heavy amounts of rain continue through the night and into tomorrow for lasalle.

The track I was speaking of are in the south I don't see how they pay taxes on the track a lot of them just run 1 or 2 a month so if they get a rain out guess what I remember when race tracks ran every week unless it was raining now you don't know if they are racing or not you got to find a schedule.

Some of the southern tracks do not run much through the hot summer months. They have the luxury of a longer season to make things work, while the midwest has quite a bit shorter of a season. Mother nature has not been kind this year (at least in the area I live).

That's trew but when you only schedule 2 races a month and one gets rained out what have you got I remember when we went to the races every saturday night or Friday night now you have to check to see if they are racing I think you will see a lot of tracks close this winter

I am with you, firmly believe that we are all creatures of habit. People find other things to do and racetracks wonder what happened to their fan base. Hard business to run, call it early and people are mad-make them show up and it rains- people are mad. I still think you are better off trying to get your show in (in a reasonable amount of time) versus calling off hours if not days in advance. I know that if certain tracks are calling for rain I start looking for other places to go before they make the call....

Sadly one of the realities is the economics don't work out to run every week any more fur a lot of places. Some of the tracks have gone to an "every other week" type of schedule. Jacksonville & Lincoln IL come to mind. Others have gone to a format where they run the headliner class on an alternating basis with another track. I think Brownstown IL & Pevely are doing this with late models.
So they have fewer scheduled dates and yes, tracks are far more trigger happy to cancel based on a weather forecast as well. In the old days, the races were ON unless it rained. Nowdays a lot of tracks cancel shows a day or 2 early for forecast rain, heat or other factors. That takes out a few days on the calendar as well. Not saying it's the wrong decision. From an economic standpoint it's better to scrap a date than take a bath at the gate cause no one shows up.
