A show like that would have to pay me to show up. Why don't they just say it's $100 to start the main and $1,850 to win it. Hope the top class gets to start early so they can get home before dawn. Imagine most of the '"fans" will beat them out of there. All those classes and what's the total car count? Forty or fifty? Next year will be my 70th year in the sport, nearly all as an owner/driver with darned little sponsorship. Can remember many years when I broke even or even made a few bucks. Was never a big star but didn't last that many years by throwing $ out the window or paying people to watch me. Had a lot of fun and don't regret any of the bucks I spent to do it.

Entry fees are the biggest scammer racing. It’s basically just reducing the drivers payoff. Why not just advertise a lower payoff?

The biggest part of the scam is when the series collect the entry fees and pocket them.

You ever play golf? There’s an entry fee. It’s not just in racing.

Entry fees are a bit too high for some series. In most series, the entry fees goes into the points fund.

I have seen one series that is giving their entry fee money to the tracks to help with the purse. But they also pay part of the winner's purse. I don't think that will be sustainable.
