First and foremost, congrats to Nick Hoffman. I know there was a handful of "top name" drivers in this 2026 edition of the World, but that had to be one of weakest fields from top to bottom in several years.
The 65 lap green stretch had me thinking these DLM shows without series points are nice without the yellows every 8 laps for guys stopping for tires. Than JD ruins it stopping with 4 inflated tires, to change 3 tires. DQ him.

I agree with you on the no cautions. The JD pit stop left a bad taste in my mouth as well. I wonder if that will be the straw that breaks the camels back at Eldora for pit stops.
looked to me like a pretty good field that shows a strong future for the sport.. congrats to Gustin on a helluva effort.
Sure was. Other than Moran, Pierce, and Madden, I'm not sure who's missing? Surely those 3 don't determine the difference in a stellar field as opposed to a weak field. A lot of those young guns that made the race have been really fast this year. Not a shocker seeing them make the race.
The 6 invert on a juiced up heat race track led to a weird starting field, combined with those that had issues: Pierce, Moran, McDowell, Madden and Overton (leaving), That's 5 favorites heading into the weekend that weren't in the 100 lapper.
There are many things I like about the way the World 100 weekend was run and formatted as opposed to the usual and customary ways of the national tours.
Tech. It does seem like they try just a little bit harder to be across the board and judicious in the application of their tech. Not only this year but in previous events. Bobby Pierce got one lap in qualifying because of a deck height infraction. You don't see that everyday.
Inverts. This one is tough because the disparity between the cars and teams is so so slim now. But to have to start sixth in some of the stacked heats and race into a top three for transfer is a big ask. To have to be able to fall back on prelim and qualifying points like B Shepp and Ferguson because the transfer didn't happen. The B Mains become so important for so many really good teams. Did it lead to some surprises? Sure it did, along with the mechanical issues and wrecks suffered by those already mentioned. I was more glued to the prelim action than I have been for almost any other race I've watched in a long time.
Double file restarts all the way. Yeah, how bout that. Ryan Gustin managed to hold onto the lead at the restarts until the driveshaft exited the car.
Made for a good show.
Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

If you go back and look at previous World and Dream results, their are a handfull of big name touring guys that don't make it in. Some do to the invert, some bad luck(getting caught up in somebodys sht), mechanical issues, and track attrition. That 6 invert does make a difference.
I do have a question though.. why was Pierce allowed to drag out a back up car after blowing the motor and not finishing top 8 in his prelim the first night?
good many drivers had to sit and watch yet he got what looked like special treatment..?
he was allowed to race a car/engine etc. that he never qualified.
