I recall being at the 2011 World 100 and seeing Jeep Van Wormer's wrap job. The car was a 9/11 tribute and had all the names of the victim's of that day listed on the wrap. It was beautiful car and it was a little emotional to see it up close. Very very nicely done.

I heard today that 31% of our population wasn't born when 9/11 happened. They don't understand the gravity of it. And they'll make the same mistakes on who to trust or overlook.

Wasn't there to see that one but it would be hard to beat Freddie Carpenter's version of the 9-11 tribute car this year. Anyone who wrinkles a fender on that beauty should be disqualified and if Freddie is unable to make it to the main tomorrow (likely) it should be used for the World's pace car. As horrible as the day was I always think of Bob, one of my lifelong best friends whose birthday is today. Was almost glad that he died in '96, 5 years before, and wasn't around for it. A lifetime of booze, fast cars and too many women beat him down early and he died on my birthday, Armistice Day (veterans' Day for the younger generation) a couple of months shy of turning 57. He was one of the best and most fearless street racers I ever saw back in the late '50s to mid '70s but oddly I could never get him to try one of my oval track cars. From last night's 25 lapper the field should beware of another Bob(by) after coming from 26 to darned near winning. Unlike My Bob, I'm not a fan but gotta admire his skill.
