The big mistake Blaney made was not taking a couple big crew members to set a screen or block out. He never stood a chance with other crew members holding him from behind.

Neither one of the shots that Hocevar landed was hard enough or near enough to his eye to even cause a black eye. They were jabs at best. Blaney didn’t even flinch either time. Both shots were dead on the chin.

I think you need to have your eyes checked. That first one connected enough to turn Ryan's head. Knock him out? No, definitely not, probably not enough to knock a man off of his feet, but enough to get your attention. It definitely connected enough for a black eye. You can see the side of his head was red when he got tackled to the ground and got back up. Both shots were to the side of his head, not the jaw. The second punch was more of an ear/temple shot. It was more of a push than a punch.

I guess they powdered the side of his head blochey red with makeup before Carson swung at him then.

Sold or not, Carson didn't connected with his jaw, he hit the side of his head. That second punch did nothing. I can agree with that though.

For sure. No one is saying Hocevar is Mike Tyson. But to act like it wasn’t real or that the punches were soft is not accurate either. These guys longing for the old days with the tough guys must be remembering the 1979 Daytona fight differently than what really happened. They were fighting two on one, one using a helmet as a weapon, and at least one other still wearing his helmet for protection. They didn’t exactly square up and go man to man.
