I know these PPV races are pretty successful since the folks that put them on continue to do so year after year. But I was wondering how many of these a year the average fans buys in a season. With as many as there now available, a fan could spend a small fortune if they bought all of them. Same goes if a person bought a week's worth like this week or last week.

I have not yet bought any. I have been tempted to, but the prices are too high for me to pull the trigger. Would rather save the money and go to a race. But, I don't fault the persons responsible for setting the prices, as I know they have expenses to cover.

Last year between Tucson, El Paso, Eastbay, Volusia I shelled out nearly $300. I know that sounds like a lot but I saw 20 races for that price. Now if I went to 20 races in person I wouldve shelled out a lot more than that. To me it's worth it, but some might not think so.

What would you expect to pay for a ticket if you were there in person? To me it's a no-brainer.

I'm not sure how anyone thinks the prices are high on these PPV? They really don't cost anymore or as much as it would if you could buy a ticket to that race at the track?Plus you get to see races you most likely wouldn't have gotten to go to! I personally order everyone of them that I can't see in person, and with my son and I both watching it worth every penny I spend. JMO

Agree ^^^^^. I watch 20-30 races per year on ppv. With pit passes costing $30-$45, its a no brainer. Plus Im in my own house and watching it on my 65" tv. With surround sound its almost like being there. If only I could get my wife to throw a little dirt on me, every time the cars go by........lol!

For me its the price -- there are very few things I'm willing to pay $25+ to watch on a screen. I'll pay $50 all day to get into a WoO race, but the experience of watching it on a screen is worth significantly less than watching in person. I would suspect that many people feel the same way. I would say a good formula to follow is the ticket price x .50. IE: $40 Ticket = $20 PPV. I would buy a lot more if they were in the $15-$20 range instead of the $25-$30 range.

But that is just me, I'll probably buy a couple this year just like I did last year but I would be a much more regular customer if the prices were just a little bit lower.

It also depends on where you live. Im in the deep south where there are no super late models. The closest would be a 6 hr drive. I would much rather be there in person but ppv is a better choice for me. I normally attend 6-8 nights during Speedweeeks to get my fill!

Yeah, I could see that for sure.

I live in the Mid Atlantic, there are five tracks within an hour and a half that run SLM weekly, and another 4-5 that run either Sprint Cars, or LLM weekly. So no matter what the cost of a PPV was (Free even) I would be at the track instead. I have found myself considering purchasing a PPV (Either via XSAN at one of the Midwest Tracks, or DoD) on rain outs, or during the off season but the price is just a little bit too high, because I am comparing it to the experience of actually being at the track. I think they do alright now, but if they want it to take off they will need to stop thinking "Its the same price as a ticket" because a ticket buys you so much more than the PPV could ever offer.

Tracks have a big influence on what the ppv prices are set at.

The way, I look at it, is if it was a race, that I would go to, if it was close enough, I'll buy it at ticket price if I can afford it. They seem to be a little expensive for the product, but it is what it is. I think there is room for improvement in coordinating what the announcer is talking about and what the camera views, would be one. The interviews with the drivers are a plus.

little off topic, but last i knew (2yrs since i watched) there are a few tracks that stream a free video
crystal in michigan and 411 in tennessee
ive watched those during local rain outs

i like the ppv for weeks like this one, im buried in snow and cold as s temps, so the $90 for the week sure beats the cost of travel and hotel

im with you on this one W2, I bought the first prelude to the dream, but no more. now I might have paid half price though.

I could care less on the price. I can't be there. So the way I figure is the price of ticket, concessions, gas, where and tear traveling across country, entertainment, hotels with most of these x5 or 6. Could be in the neighbor hood of $1200.00 or more give or take a few. I get the package for $85.00 which covers the entire week. I know it is not like being there. But at least they gave me a option. So I invite friends over and we all chip in. I pay $10.00 to watch 6 nights of racing in my house!!! You make out like a bandit, they leave extra money, food and drinks. I have a full fridge and cupboards and money in my pocket. Regardless my point being it's a know BRAINER.

I love the idea off having some dirt being throw on us.
