As I have been saying the same thing for literally months I'm going to say the short version this time.

IF WE DO NOT start cutting costs in this division WE WILL HAVE VERY FEW CARS. If we have very few cars THE TRACKS CAN NOT AFFORD TO HOST THE RACES. If the tracks can not afford to host the races THEN DRIVERS LIKE BLOOMQUIST, RICHARDS, and MOYER HAVE NO PLACE TO RACE.

If you do not see the writing on the wall please get your eyes checked, just a few short years ago we were looking at car counts over 200 at the Crown Jewels, now everyone gets excited when we have 100. Do you think it makes the track happy when they lose half of their back gate income? Is this division sustainable if the same decline continues?

    NO it is not.

    Thanks,
    Jeff.

Oh yes, the car cover policy. Man, what an awesome rule.

Typical ignorance from rules makers...but keep those open engine rules boys...motors are dirt cheap and they never blow up...shaking my head

Let's face it, this shock rule was made for one person. the technology has been there for years. It should have been outlawed long ago. Scott figured it out and put it to good use. Everyone cried and had it banned. Still though, nobody is exactly sure what he was running. If this technology is what he incorporated into his program, somebody owes him alot of money for his time and effort in making it work. It wasn't illegal, so why penalize him for being smarter than everyone else.

Iam all for it, ive been saying for yrs measures need to be taken to bring the costof racing down. If it keeps on going like it is now the little man want have a chance to race in a couple yrs, it will only be for the rich like nascar.

It wasn’t illegal, but is now. He made his money back on whatever "unobtainium" he had at the end of last season. His constant whining about the cost of the sport even picked him up a few sponsors over the off season. I find it ironic the guys at the pinnacle of the sport complain about costs. They are the exact guys driving up the cost pushing everything they can further and further and making everything more exotic.

Exactly. They all want to complain about the cost of the sport but want nothing to do with helping it.

How should he help it? By not seeking an advantage? Should he just run a metric chassis from now on? Honest question-Tell me how he "helps" racing by ignoring advancements?

                      To the contrary, actually.
The thicker a rule book is, the thicker your wallet needs to be to build a COMPETITIVE car.
That's a fact and NASCAR is living proof of it.
Fewer, simpler, easier to enforce rules are the key to success and sustainability of any division. They have kept adding and adding rules to the modified division over the years and the cost to run the class continues to sky-rocket. And their solution is to add more rules. That doesn't make since ANYBODY that can form a rational thought.

Bloomquist has a different and interesting approach to addressing cost concerns: He would like to see purses increased to help COVER the cost. He has this approach because he is smart and he knows there is NO really good way to limit cost in racing. Like my grandfather used to say, "Racing cost just as much now as it did 50 years ago: every penny you have."
But for purses to increase, promoters would need to start doing a lot more ACTUAL promoting and not just opening the gates and wondering why people aren't showing up in droves.

Sure, it's the track promoters fault.

It's got nothing to do with Bloomquist buying a $50,000 motor and putting it in his $30,000 chassis which has $16,000 shocks and loading it in his $250,000 toter along with his 60 different sets of tires another car just like the first one and enough spares to build a third car for the same price.

I can tell you inflation has not gone that crazy in ten years, it is drivers always trying to spend more and more and not realizing what they have done to the sport. Everyone talks about the good old days but the second you say hold on maybe this new thing is a bad idea it costs a lot people complain that the cars are being limited and can't run a 12 second lap anymore, then they go back to talking about the good old days (when cars ran 14 second laps) and the racing was great.

                          Thanks,
                          Jeff.

So because Scott wants to win, people don't show up? Is that your stance? The majority of promoters I know are lazy. Scott is the most motivated man I've ever had the pleasure to be around. It ain't his fault, dammit!

Motivated to win is a very good assessment of Scott. Inventor of what we are discussing here, not an assessment that anyone can come to. Where Scott almost always excels is application of when and where, not so much the innovation part in my opinion. He used others thoughts and materials and then applied them to what he was doing within the grey area of the rules. Obviously this didn't happen overnight, this happen after day after day after day of testing with Penske's technology and Ronnie's idea's. The sanctionings have now stepped in and stopped this advantage from becoming the "norm", and for once I like some of what they are doing. Scott has been a vampire to this sport for so long and to so many people that it's kind of nice to see him get a taste of his own.

Round or round who do you work for and what do they pay you ??! You
Come across as working for Carlos slim and being paid like Berkshire Hathaway pays bill gates ..... And I'm guessing if your actual job is working on a dirt late model your making less than the 122k I made my first year in business at 21
