So here is my problem with the "spec shock" deal. That same guy who is spend 15k to cheat up his 6k crate motor is gonna spend 2k+ to cheat up his shocks. For God sakes half the time they don't even tech the motors and most the time when they do the tech man doesn't know what he's looking for to declare someone illegal such as wrong valve springs, oxygenated fuel, no seals on oil pan or timing cover, doped up tires etc. And how many tech guys out there have a good understanding of shock? So putting another "spec" rule in there just makes it harder for guys that run by the book to compete with those teams that find a way to cheat the system

your dead on target grt62, and also you kind of clarified the post above you, yea you might can buy several of those crate engines for the cost of one open engine, but how many of those right out of the box engines are winning races? I had a friend that had plenty of money that wanted to crate race, bought a tricked out to the max 604 , paid 15000 for it and killed every one for months, was teched several times and never found illegal, he told me the fan on it cost 400 because on the dyno, it made 8 hp. now on a slick track, 900hp might not matter over 800hp, but 475 does make a difference over 400hp. point is in the end, the ones with the most funds has more of an advantage in crates than any other late model class.. You just described every form of motorsports that has ever existed. Money buys speed. That doesn't mean money always wins because some people don't know how to put it to good use and then there are some people that can't drive.
But you take two equally good driver and pair them up with two equally good chassis tuners and give them differing amounts of money to work with and I will tell you who the winner will be.
The sooner people wrap their minds around this (especially the people creating all of these stupid rules), the better off we'll all be.

Racer63 not sure what you mean. I don't work for FASTRAK. I haven't done crate stuff in almost 3 years other than to fill in here and there or to help out friends (as I am doing this weekend at Modoc Raceway for the Modoc 100 - $5000 to win for Unsanctioned Crate Late Models at my friend Edward Cushman's track).

They said the pulled out. They lost some tracks. Some closed. Others went to Rush or others. So they pulled out completely. They still had some tracks up there when they made the decision. Don't blame them one bit for that. Hope it works out for all but we will have to see.

Doesn't matter to me - don;t have a dog in the fight really. Just trying to share the information I had.
