Going to my first Show Me 100

I have never been to Wheatland and am going for the first time. We will be camping (we have a 5th wheel camper) and was wondering if anybody can give me some information about camping, ie, where is a good spot to camp or not a good spot and if there are any certain areas that the "rowdies" camp in. We love a good party but would also like to get some sleep! Also if there are any areas in the campground that are prone to flood. Looking on the internet it looks like there should be plenty of camping area. Thank you all in advance!

There is plenty of camping space as you noted. I have found the area by the lakes tends to be a bit more rowdy than the field to left as you enter. There are also some wooded spots below the lake area but would probably be a little tuff for the fifth wheel. So would suggest the field. They have done a good job of adding port a potties in the field for campers but the showers a restrooms are not a far walk. We usually arrive on Wed night to get a spot along the tree line for a little more privacy.

Thank you for the information about the field on the left, that is probably were we will end up. We are going to be there Wednesday because we were not show how crowded the camping would be for this event. We will definitely have to take a walk over the lake area with a cooler and check it out! Is it as crazy as the World?

The field is pretty large you can pretty much find a spot even if you rolled up on Saturday. Even if it did they are really accommodating there you could probably camp on the drag boat lake side if it ever got filled up.We tried fishing the lakes right after they put them in not much luck but that was a couple years ago after they had just stocked it. Also they have a swimming beach down at the end of drag boat lake that was open a couple of years ago. It hasn't been the last couple due to construction on the drag boat lake side. And no not as crazy as the World by any means. When they made the switch from West Plains to Wheatland it seemed to lose some of the party crowd.

There are 12 full hookups (no sewer) and they are usually gone year to year. There are several hundred acres to camp in. They are gravel roads and no danger of flooding ( MO rock and clay) Nice facility you will be impressed. From the slick go cart track to the funnel cakes.

We camp at the Wheatland State Park Campground about 10 minutes to the south. It has full hookups, showers and adjacent to Lake Pomme de Terre for $17/night. I think there are still a few spots left. Very quiet. They have a killer BBQ joint right before you head into the park.

Thank you for the information in the campground. I just checked and they don't have any spots available for the 5 days we wanted. We will definitely check out the BBQ place though! So excited to be going!
