Hesston Speedway Re-Opens May 2 with Extra Payoffs for All Classes!
(Hesston, PA) After 21 months of sitting idle, the force returns to Hesston Speedway on Saturday, May 2. The “2015 Blastoff†will be the official grand re-opening of the 3/8 mile supertrack. The “2015 Blastoff†will feature championship payoffs and race distances for all classes.
The racing program on May 2 will be headlined by the powerful Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate LM). The 30 lap feature will pay $1,000 to win and $125 to start. The LaSalle Engine & Chassis open-wheel E-mods will invade the high banks for the first time ever. The E-mods will racing in a $700 to win, $90 to start, 25 lap championship. If E-mod race team support is strong on May 2, the E-mods will be added to the schedule numerous times in 2015.
The sleek A-Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will also race 25 laps for $500 to win and $75 to start. Bonus money will be paid to the highest finishing 358 Hesston-legal spec or 602 crate motor cars in the A-Cadets. The highest finisher will received $100 and the 2nd highest finisher will receive $50.
The Freedom Powersports heavy-metal Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stock) will pay $300 to win for 20 laps and the Dave’s Auto Body & Towing wild Roadrunners (fwd stock 4-cylinder) will pay $200 to win for 15 laps. Full payoffs for all classes may be found at http://hesstonspeedway.com/payoffs/
Hesston Speedway rules make virtually every car in the region legal, with weight and spoiler variations in place to event out competition among different equipment combinations. Full rules may be found at the track website. Pit gates will open at 3:00 with grandstands opening at 5:00. Driver’s meeting and pill draw cut-off is at 5:45 with the first race hitting the track at 6:30. Grandstand admission is $12 with children 12 and under free in the grandstands. All pit tickets are $28. All ticket prices include 5% township amusement tax. The rain date for this event is Saturday, May 9.
Super Late Models will appear twice in the month of May at Hesston. The “Hesston Trophy†on Saturday May 16 will feature the 800 horsepower monsters in a $1,500 to win event. This race will serve as a tune-up for the first major Super Late Model event of 2015 scheduled on May 24.
On Sunday, May 24, Hesston Speedway will host one of the most anticipated events of 2015. After a 2-year hiatus, the UFo Super Late Models arrive back on planet earth for the “DR Eriksen Grand Prix.†This event will pay $4,056 to the winner for a 56 lap feature, in tribute of the “Dirt Doctor†D.R. Eriksen who was born in 1956. DR totally rebuilt the track in the first part of the decade before his health forced him to close the track in 2013.
JELT Enterprises, Inc. has been diligently working at the speedway to assure that the facility is in top-notch condition when the gates open once again. Hesston Speedway was famous for three and even 4 wide racing. For 2015, the banking in the turns has been revised which will should allow the action to be even more spectacular.
“Motor Mountain†is located in the scenic Raystown Lake and mountain country of central PA and provides a wonderful opportunity for race fans and race teams to make a complete weekend getaway when attending the racing events at Hesston. All fans are provided an excellent view of the action, with grandstand seating and drive-in viewing built high above the racing surface. Hesston welcomes campers and now offers in track-camping on the back straight viewing ramp.
