I am in IMCA country and it is not the answer for late models. Tracks around here only get 10-20 cars weekly, even the deer bros specials are lucky to get a full field. Good payout, proper promoting, fair tech, and track prep is the answer to keep drivers and fans coming back. LaSalle was once a great weekly track, what happened. Princeton tried IMCA at one time and it didn't work for them. Ump needs to go back to Bob Memmers vision. He thought he left it in good hands, but he didn't.

If Tony Izzo and Brad hines want to make this a go. Let them, there just trying to maybe start something different and have maybe better success. They are reaching out to drivers to see if there would be a interest. And to fans that that would be interested as well to see something they have heard about or read about. Just be a fan and show up not knowing a lot of the drivers would and could be very fun and entertaining. Just my 2 cents!!!!

The biggest problem with weekly racing is the lack of weekly racing. IMO

There's nothing wrong with the show the IMCA cars put on. Heck, most folks wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the stands. You're just not going to convince me that it's much cheaper to run up front in IMCA than it is in UMP.

Yes I do believe UMP could help with some cost cutting measures but, that would take some fore thought and a backbone which the powers to be at UMP have neither of. There are plenty of knowledgeable racers out there that could give them some ideas on how to accomplish this but, they wont listen.

Remember the days when your racecar only fit the rules at one, maybe 2, tracks? You had full fields and didn't have to have the same equipment as the guys running across the midwest thinking they were going to be the next Jeff Gordon. Most local guys just want to race and have fun with their buddies, they don't care about ever winning a national championship or impressing Rick Hendrick. They had their own battles amongst themselves and didn't care if anyone outside the community knew who they were. Next time you are at a "weekly show" and you see big expensive haulers in the pits when the most anyone is racing for is $1000.... ask yourself where the problem lies!

I dont disagree with what your saying here. Not everyone is going to like the change they make all the time but, if its truly going to save racers money and not just some stupid rule they put out there then most are not going to complain. the ones that usually complain when it comes to cost cutting measures are the ones with bank. meaning the ones that have money to burn.

What saves SOME people money COSTS others money. For example, I build my own engines, I built a 421 with a bowtie block, 15 degree heads, etc the first year I raced a modified for less money than I could buy a crate motor for. A crate motor I can't touch. So who wins? Do we change rules in this case to pacify the guys that are involved in MOTORSPORTS, but do not have the ability to do any work themselves?

I agree there is no easy answer but, do you have any ideas on where they could save money and is it about just me or is it about they whole sport in general. is it going to be just you guys left that can do all the work yourself or should they find a way to include everyone and yes i realize your not going to please everyone i get that.

by the way you are bringing up some very valid points. that's why it's good to have these discussions because maybe something can be done to help and maybe there isn't anything that can truly be done.

I will let you in on a little secret. IMCA weekly payout for first place in a Late Model is $600.00. No money to be made by drivers. Only IMCA.
