Hell Tour Set To Invade Macon Speedway Thursday Babb, Pierce, Feger, & Moyer Among Favorites 15 events into the 2015-edition of the UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour, the cream is rising to the top in the point chase. While the first seven events had different winners at each race, the recent events have seen Shannon Babb and Jason Feger starting to warm up. All the stars will converge on Macon Speedway this coming Thursday, July 9 for the 35th running of the Herald & Review 100. The Macon Speedway event should be a great one as local favorite, Shannon Babb, of Moweaqua, IL, recently won his third event on the tour. Babb claimed the Tri-State Speedway event on Sunday, in addition to his earlier wins at Fairbury and Peoria. He will, no doubt, be the top pick on Thursday night as he has won the last two Herald & Review 100â€™s, three of four, and five of the last nine. His list of challengers, however, will be tough to beat. Current Summer Nationals point leader, Bobby Pierce, of Oakwood, IL, might be the one to knock Babb off his pedestal. Pierce was extremely strong at the Lucas Oil Late Model event in April, but a flat tire cost him the victory while leading. Pierce has not won this historic event but his dad, Bob, has four trophies, with his last in 2001. Bloomington, IL driver, Jason Feger has recently warmed up, as well. Feger claimed his first 2015 Hell Tour trophy on June 13 at Cedar Lake Speedway and added two more, with the wins coming at Daugherty Speedway on July 1 and Highland Speedway on July 4. The current standings are led by the â€œSmooth Operatorâ€ Bobby Pierce. The young racer has a 48 point lead on Billy Moyer, Jr. and a 100 point advantage on Feger. Babb is fourth in this yearâ€™s rundown, while Ryan Unzicker is fifth. Timothy Culp, Jim Moon, Billy Moyer, John Hahler, and Michael Kloos complete the top ten in the current standings. Events are schedule Monday-Wednesday at Lincoln, Vermillion County, and Florence and may shake up the standings a bit more before the Macon event. This Thursdayâ€™s race will mark the 35th year for the Herald & Review 100. Forsyth, IL driver Butch Garner won the first one back in 1981. Babb has the most wins with 5, while Bob Pierce and Kevin Weaver have four each. If Bobby Pierce does find victory lane, he and his dad will become the second father-son duo to win the event. In addition to the $5,000 to win event for the Late Models, the Summit National Modifieds will also be on hand. Round out the nightâ€™s card will be the return of the B-Mods. Pit gates will open Thursday at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps start at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Adult admission is $25, while children 11 and under are $5. Herald & Review 100 Postponed Due To Wet Grounds Macon Speedway officials were forced to pull the plug on the July 9 running of the Herald & Review 100, due to extremely wet grounds at the 1/5-mile facility. Track officials had hoped to be able to pull off a miracle and get the facility ready for the evening's events but the lack of sunshine and cool temperatures did not help the efforts. Despite a dry forecast for Thursday, the huge amounts of rainfall throughout Central Illinois on Wednesday caused a number of county flood warnings and soggy conditions at Macon Speedway. Even the track, which usually dries fairly quickly and holds up well in days following rain, was soaked from overnight rains that would not leave. Track promoter Bob Sargent stated, "Had we not had the rain overnight, I think we would've been okay. When I saw it raining at 2:30 in the morning, I knew we were in trouble." The 35th running of the Herald & Review 100 will be rescheduled on Wednesday, August 26 as part of a huge weekend of Late Model racing in the midwest. In addition to the Summer National Hell Tour Late Models, the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals, and B-Mods were also on the card. The next event on the Macon Speedway schedule is this coming Saturday, July 11 with six divisions of action. The Sportsman Topless 40, Big Ten Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Hornets are all on the action packed card. Admission prices will be $12 for adults but $6 for women for Bud Light Ladies Night. Children 11 and under are admitted free of charge. Pits will open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps will begin at 6:00 shortly after the pill draw ends and racing will begin at 7:00.
