So this is more of an accurate depiction. The events that are ULTIMATE - NATIONAL are NOT required for the BoB points. However a finish can be replaced with a finish in a NATIONAL event.

No 201 or Florence? Seeing they're 2 of the nicer tracks I've been to in Kentucky. It's still early they could end up with dates before the whole thing complete. Especially since florence doesn't have a SN date in 16.

We are still working on the schedule. This is what is done thus far. The Battle of the Bluegrass is a regional tour not limited to Kentucky which was discussed in the initial relaunch press release.

8 of the dates are tagging onto the regular Ultimate series. I am really shocked so many tracks are having this series this year considering their low car counts in 2015. I think about half the races didn't even have a full field. Are tracks expectations that low for car counts now?

                I didn't think there was a BoB in 2015?

He is referring to the ULTIMATE Series I am sure. But the series averaged 23 cars in a region that is struggling for SLM car counts. You can look at any event in the region and see that for yourself. However our track promoters, fans and racers seemed quite pleased with our program. We pay a $20,000 to win point championship which is the largest that I am aware of for any regional tour. Our sponsor list continues to grow each year and most of our tracks have returned and even grown their events. In 2016 we have a $20,000 and $15,000 to win one-day event along with the new Colonial Clash Championship which features events at 4 tracks in 4 days which pays a separate $15,000 point fund. We also have a couple of $10,000 to win shows and multiple $5000 to win events. Between ULTIMATE SE and BoB teams will compete for over $1 million dollars in purses. I guess that some folks think that car counts are the only sign of the quality of an event.

And just to clear up something - there are exactly 4 events that are co-sanctioned with ULTIMATE SE. All 4 are in Tennessee. The other 4 events you mention are National events which means they are not required for BoB points. However a BoB driver can use the finish at a National event to replace a worse finish on the BoB schedule.

It sure is a shame to have people put you down when you are working to do something to help a region that has no touring series. BUT the positive feedback and support far outweighs the negative comments that some detractors are spouting. I promise you that we will work hard to make this a success for the fans and drivers of that region.

I don't understand the negativity either. I could see people complaining about car counts if there were multiple series going head to head on the same dates, but a quick look at the schedule shows that not to be the case. The Ultimate and BoB series aren't running up against the Summer Nationals and in general when other series are holding events in the South, the Ultimate and BoB series are elsewhere.

There are only so many cars to go around. That is the problem. To build car counts drivers need a place to race for good money close by so they can afford to invest in equipment. As a fan I'm thankful for the Ultimate series because they put on good shows with good purses and help keep the Supers alive in my neck of the woods. I hope the BoB will do as much for the sport where they hold events as the Ultimate series does around here.

It is kind of disappointing there are so few races in KY. I tried to find historical info on the series from back in the day, but it's tough to find much. I was able to cobble together what the schedule looked like in 2004 by using The Third Turn's database.

This is what I was able to find....

                        1 Florence Speedway - Winner: Steve Francis - Car Count - 32
                        2 Bluegrass Speedway - Winner: Don O'Neal - Car Count - 25
                        3 Ponderosa Speedway - Winner: Greg Johnson - Car Count - 25
                        4 201 Speedway - Winner: Tyrel Todd - Car Count - 24
                        5 Richmond Raceway - Winner: Greg Johnson - Car Count - 21

There are a lot of names I recognize that aren't around anymore, tracks and drivers. I always like reading stuff like this, just never really think about looking on there.
