I've wanted to see this show the last few years as well.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A 410 NON-WING SPRINT CAR SHOW THERE.
THEY PUT ON AN INSANE SHOW A KOKOMO (IN) SPEEDWAY BUT FIRST THEY WOULD NEED TO UPGRADE THE FENCE AND HAVE IT ABOUT 10-12 FEET HIGH WITH 5 OR 6 STEEL CABLES BEHIND IT.
THEY WOULD FLY THOUGH THE CURRENT FENCE AS THEY ARE KNOW TO GET AIRBORN REAL QUICK AND CARTWHEEL HIGH INTO THE AIR.
Thanks for the info. I will make sure I schedule that day off as soon as I get back to work Tuesday
As far as the 410 sprints as long as it's non-wing sprints. To me they put on a better show but, either way that would be something too see there.

Kid, I'm really surprised that the MOWA (Midwest Open Wheel Association) 410 winged sprint cars have not been scheduled to race at Fairbury to date. All evidence indicates that MOWA is a quality organization and their participants and cars are of high quality, highly talented and that quality runs deep among their drivers and teams.

MOWA's schedule just came out and they'll be racing at Macon, Peoria, Lincoln, Canton each once and La Salle twice. All of those tracks are primarily dirt late model venues as is FALS. They pack La Salle for the Bill Waite Jr. Memorial the week before Labor Day Weekend.

I too am not a huge winged fan but I have to believe MOWA sprints would be a good fit for both FALS and MOWA. I know I'd be there to watch them!

Had to Stop and make my Brain work ... Long time a go that the sprints ran there .. Use too love the Sprints as much as the Lates.. Use to go too the Champaign fair grounds too see the WoO sprints at the 1/2 mile they use too run 18 or more times a year in ILL. Now they run like 2 times a year... and the Sprints at Fairbury.. Sprints where the Big Dog back then Lates were just coming in. They were just Hoped up cars (Lates) with jackers big tires and a big eng....Sprints were the all out Race cars....Now the WoO Sprints run in a row on a dry slick track...There is one thing good too being OLD its too stop and think how it was way back when....
... FarmerCity ran the no wing Sprints lasts year No Wing much better Racing .. Would Love too see MOWA at both FarmerCity and Fairbury......

            Good and Bad

As a long time fan and racer at Fals I am glad to see all the updates being done to the facility. But I do find it a little upsetting that anytime the idea of raising payouts for regular nights of racing the answer is they can't afford to do it. Don't get me wrong Fals is not the only track that needs to up regular night pay if they don't there will never be the opportunity for local racers to be able to stay in the sport and have a chance to move up and travel and run at a regional or national level. But I guess we have to understand as racers that it is just like everything in this day and age it's all focused on big business which is why In my opinion they are doing what they are doing making it a facility that is more appealing for ' big business'. I guess in closing I will just say tracks need to remember that the local racers are the ones who put fans in the stands for years and made tracks be able to get to the level they are at.

^^^ @win18, I have to assume you are referencing either Street Stocks or Sportsman because their payout for Late Models is very good for this day and age...$200 to start and $1200 to win for a weekly show is unmatched anywhere else in our area. And the level of competition is unbelievable. I'm not too proud to admit I ran there 5 nights two years ago and only made one show, and to further that it was the Fair race in which everyone started. I also drove two hours one way each time. Fairbury has a good thing going and they are investing in that further...we should all be glad. I wish them luck!

I hope you are not implying that the street stock and sportsman classes do not matter and should be happy racing for peanuts. They pay the same gate fees, bringing just as many, if not more, fans (weekly races), pay the same price for fuel, etc. If you feel the late model payout is the best around, then the pay for all classes should be the best around. I will admit that I do not know what their payout is for these classes, but if it were the best around I don't think it would be a topic. If it is the best around, then shame on anyone complaining. Also, every track i have been to, the back 1/2 of the late model field should be racing a lower class anyway, but are still racing for the same pay as the lower classes get to win.

If I'm not mistaking Fairbury has had one of the best payouts for the Street Stocks in this area of the country. Now I'm not trying to say they couldn't raise the payout because, I would have no idea but, what I do know the improvements they are proposing especially the restrooms is always a complaint of many tracks around the country and one you always see on social media as something fans wish were better so, we have to give them props for addressing the bathrooms like they are.

Yeah, not sure why they haven't been scheduled there unless They just haven't been able to work out a deal on the money part or Fairbury sees the track as just a late model track but, I have no idea why.

If they do have the best payouts across the board, then good on them. Also agree, props to them for addressing areas for improvement.

I don't really like to speculate but, if I had to I would say your right it's a late model track and usually the 2 don't mix with the fans but, like I said I have no idea why a MOWA or sprint car show has not been scheduled there.

The only other track I can think of that would pay equal to or better than would be Charelston Speedway. Now I'm only talking Street Stocks here and no other class.

I'm no doubt going to regret ever chiming in on this subject, but, I too believe a MOWA 410 sprint car show would be a profitable event for FALS.

No question it's a dirt late model track and a very good one so it definitely ain't broke so, and as was said ealier, it don't need no fixin'. The folks that run FALS are doing quite well, and will continue to do so even if they never schedule anything but DLM's, mortifieds and SS's.

However, variety is said to be the spice of life. One thing is for sure, it is highly probable that many race fans are capable of thoroughly enjoying many different types of racing competition. That would include racecars with starters or without but for whatever reason some other fans are very provincial, tribal or whatever you want to call it. Defensive may be the correct term.

As far as pushing cars to start them I would advise those who have some sort of phobia for push start racecars to watch The Chili Bowl next weekend and note how it's done. When done correctly in a well thought out and organized manner, as it is at the CB, the ebb and flow and quality of the show is not the least effected.

The thing is If the race gos bad as far as push starting them (To Long time) Die hard Late fans Like too Cry...The Chili Bowl people know speed on getting them going Is real Important . When they did Sprints at FarmerCity year be for last. They had set it up too go fast . There was just not enuff people too pay for them.. they lost money on them but did not drop them cause they said if you say you are going too run them Run them....I think if times were not where money was low (for people going) it may have worked .. Timing was not good, For Me a well run Sprint show is Great ..But I am not like most Late M fans...
I am with you they need run MOWA and they need too do FarmerCity and Fairbury on the same weekend like a 2 day show....So sprint fans can make a weekend of it.....
