I've been doing this a long time and have made a wide range of wages during that time. The lowest I was ever paid was $450/week plus all expenses-$2000/week plus a percentage. The $2000/week plus percentage job was the worst job I've ever had and I quit and moved on in less than 6 months. Now I'm in a situation where I'm making good to top money and very happy with the situation and team I'm involved with and that's what matters more to me, to each his own I guess. With that said I know a few of the top guys making less than decent money and others that are making upwards of $2500/week. It obviously all depends on what the teams budget is, but there's no consistent pay range in this sport unless you're just "a guy" and in that case most of those aren't making anymore than 400-450/week and they're working their butts off for it doing what the other guys don't want to do ie. cleaning the rig, maintaining tire work at the track like buffing, dismounting and I mounting tires. The good situations are when you as the crew chief have a great working relationship with the driver and both parties compliment each other in making the set-up decisions.
