    Birky!

    Per Alissa on Facebook...
"This got way out of control when someone used the word "back." Brian did not want to announce anything because he is not making any promises. He is going to practice at La Salle on Thursday night. If the Easter weekend event is postponed to the following weekend, we already have a commitment and he will not be there. We will not have a website, schedule or new tshirt. Please do not ask. We enjoyed our "normal" life last year and intend to continue doing just that. Racing for 2016 will be a hobby. If you do not hear from me, what you read may not be true. I'm not going to respond to every comment, question, etc. because quite frankly, I just don't have the time."

Crazy how this has blown up on internet last few weeks, glad to hear he is at least toying the option of hopping in a car!

Ya' kinda sense some frustration in her post. I hope his "hobby" for 2016 is what they both want. But that's how it can start...just a little taste! I wish the best for both of them and look forward to seeing Brian race again, even if just at a practice.

Alissa has every right to comment the way she feels it is necessary to do so. I have never met Alyssa, but have emailed with her about Brian's sweatshirts. She was very nice, and very appreciative that I was supporting Birkhofer racing. People have to understand that they get tired of rumors, especially a couple years ago that said they were broke. Most people hope Brian races some this year, and maybe they will let people know when.

I'm surprised she hasn't taken down the facebook page honestly.

To me, this sounds like mama stepping in with some anger of this even being considered. The way she comes off almost seems like she was the one who may have put the hammer down on the retirement to start with. I have been around situations were the wife puts her foot down when it comes to racing after marriage.... and those were text book quotes.

Exactly, especially when you have kids.

my guess would be Knoxville, Cedar Lake and 1 of the Eldora shows for Birky which as a fan is plenty

I thought the exact same thing! She could have started her statement by "we are flattered by the outpouring of support" or something of that nature. It must be hell to be loved by so many, I can see why that would piss her off. Lol

I really don't blame her posting that. If you follow the stuff that gets posted over there. I imagine it's quite frustrating. People always asking where he is racing(when he was actually racing and had a website). People saying he was coming back because they heard it at the bar or something. Just the general over obsession with him is enough to be off putting.

Wrong!!! When you sell your first piece of merchandise you just sold a little bit of yourself.

Buying a t shirt doesn't give fans right to know every move. Or ask every 2 weeks if he's coming back. Or ask why he didn't go to a race 2 time zones away.

I've never seen the obsession to that level on any other page. It's quite comical.

Fans automatically think they have this power once they support someone with the purchase of a t shirt or giving business to a sponsor to call the shots. In reality they really don't have any say in anything. And it's extremely funny to see the ones who think they do.

Yeah its their life, their family, and their business. Wasn't criticizing, just kind of struck me a bit odd at how it was addressed. Everyone here knows how hard it is to just step away from something that is part of who you are, and a little of me wondered if he had pressure to retire from within his family (and that's their business). I have seen plenty girlfriends cool with racing, but once the ring went on and kids came along.... it was a whole different story. Her reaction to this sounds like it may be the case here also. As long as they are happy, I wish them the best in whatever way it goes in regards to retirement.
