A Statement From Charlies Fiancé and myself - Thank you

First off id like to thank everyone for the outpour of support the family has received directly since Friday night. It truly is amazing to see the 99f being shared from coast to coast and everyone knows what heaven gained. I was fortunate to be at the hospital yesterday with about 10 other people during Charlies last hours when the call was made to let him go. He had been in organ failure since the early morning hours and his lungs had began to fill with fluid and there was nothing the doctors at Cabell huntington could do. I wish i could forget the image of him lying in his bed with nothing but a small portion of his face exposed and the splotches showing through his wraps. Id rather remember him and Quins first trip to eldora and how much he absolutely loved it. Him jumping up and down like crazy when Bloomer passed Dale McDowell AGAIN. Always having an open seat for me at PRP in the same spot every week.... He made a living helping and saving people as an EMS and firefighter out of wheelersburg. I can only hope in the wake of tragedy Charlie saves many more lives as awareness and safety of these cars and the ability to handle ANY emergency becomes priority at the track, just as Jim Dunn did. God I wish i could go back and prevent it or change the past, but he will live with us for the rest of our lives and will never be forgotten as a kind soul. - 71PRPFAN

    From Quin -
"I've tried to find all of the right words to say... but of course my mind is a thousand directions... I just want to thank everyone for all of their love, support, and prayers.... It has truly been amazing! The community, the fire & ems, the racing community.. everyone. Thank you. Charles is so loved and so missed by people all over. He was truly one of a kind and I will miss everything about him. When you know you're with the one that God put you with, and you know you're to spend your entire lives together, you don't picture such a tragedy turning your entire world upside down... but, it did. I'm still wishing I'd wake up from this horrendous nightmare, looking into Charles beautiful eyes and telling him how much I love him and how handsome he is. I can't picture how my life is going to be now or honestly how it will ever go on... but I have to know Charles would want nothing more than for me to continuing living this life for Liam and giving him the best one that I can, and for Charles, I'm going to do that. My heart literally aches for everything that happened to him.. I wish I could take it from him. This life will absolutely never be the same without him. His smile, laugh, humor, heart..... They were all so wonderful. He took such good care of me and spoiled me like no other. I know I may never know the answers as to why this could have happened, but one day I will. Baby, I cannot wait to see you again one day. One day, we will have forever"

Thank you all who took the time to read this post. I dont post much on 4m anymore but I had to get this off my chest. prayers and donations are very much welcome.

I've been on 4m since it switched from chasin racing to 4m, around 1996 or so. This is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever read on here. Words can't express the sadness I feel for Quinn, Liam and all the other family and friends Charlie leaves behind. God's hands are softest for those hurting the most. I pray that everyone involved can mourn in comfort and heal in time. Godspeed to all.

There are no words that can ease your families pain. The only thing I can say is that his memory will live on, and may he rest in peace. Prayer's to the family and friends.

Charlie Floyd was a dirt late model racer, EMT, and volunteer firefighter from Wheelersburg, Oh. Most important, he was a father to little boy, and had a fiancé. Being a father, that part really pulls at me.

He was racing at Southern Ohio Speedway and got in a wreck. Car rolled, caught fire, according to DoD, it was five dam minutes before he was rescued. He received burns to 80% of his body. He succumbed to his injuries.

I just hope the boy has some memories of his Dad he can hold on to, depending on his age. And hopefully the fiancé and son can stay strong, think of the good memories, hold on to them, and be able to eventually move on. It seems impossible, but to live, you gotta move on.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

Unfortunately Liam is less than a year old. He has a lot of stories to look forward to in the future though.

Charles - you will be missed as evident from the out crying of support for the family. God Speed from the racing family here in the Chicagoland area. We will see you down the road.
