On a somewhat related topic-I went to the IMCA SuperNationals at Boone last year. Drinking is allowed in the pits during the races. I was absolutely shocked when I found out about that. I had a race driver (he wasn't drinking) offer me a beer in the pits just as racing started for the day. I declined his offer and thought "wft is he doing offering me a beer just as racing starts. Alcohol in the pits is a big no no at every other single race I've been to in my life." I headed to the cat walks soon after to watch the races and saw people drinking beer and than realized it's okay to drink in the pits during racing. Pretty surprising to me that's allowed. Hopefully an accident like that never happens at the Supernats with so many cars and people moving around in very tight spaces.

First time I went to SN I was stunned as well. Beer at Boone is actually cheaper in the pits than it is in the grandstands. It's quite the party that's for sure.

IMCA in general is a joke when it comes to this. Especially in the central Iowa area. Boone, for example, which is OWNED by IMCA.....not only allows beer/alcohol in the pits but they have a separate beer concession window in the pits.

Not only that but they allow children of all ages in the pits, now that is a joke to me. I have seen first hand toddlers running around in the lanes and it scares the heck out of me to think of a little one getting run over...hate it.

There was also a limited late model driver that used to stop at the bar near the track even before he went through the front gate. He would do rotten in the heat because he didn't have enough in him to be brave enough so he would have to run the consi. He would be primed up just enough that he would win it by a wide margin . When the feature finally came around he would usually wreck in a few laps because he was a little too drunk by then. Glad he never made it to a late model !

Just curious : why wasn't the killer tested for alcohol or drugs ? We know that the killer bragged different times about drinking his way to the bottom of a case of Schlitz beer with other hints of his drinking skills! What about the killer being sent to anger management classes? How do we know that he wasn't put on Ritalin, Adderall, Zoloft, or some other medicine {possibly mixed with alcohol} designed to keep a person with a known and proven temperament problem in check? Perhaps some of these unanswered questions will be brought out in the civil suit as other questions such as why each and everyone of the cars were able to idle by the young child and not hit him but yet only one gassed it up and steered right into him. Many many unanswered questions unanswered especially the common sense ones. N.Y. state has a history of doing legal matters different than normal states and they appeared to have failed sadly in this investigation.

and if he's wasn't so high on pot maybe he would have had fast enough reflexes to jump out of the way of a car coming toward him. This was no child but a grown ass man that was so high he shouldn't have even been in a race car.

Not only did he not jump out of the way, he actually charged at the car, jumped onto the car, and held the wing panel for a split second until he was sucked under the right rear and flung across the track. Did you ever see the video? It was rather gruesome, but very telling. (I'm not trying to be insensitive, horribly tragic accident, but the video didn't lie)
