Bub did own his own equipment until last season.

Bub is taking a break to spend more time with his kids right now. Randy Thompson - his car owner - has told him that when he's ready to race again that they will get new cars and get back in the game.

I'd expect to see Bub back wheeling the #57 before you know it.
