Northern California Iron Man Sean McCoy lost his life in a single car accident during the annual Taxi Challenge race at Marysville. His car hit a rut midway through a corner in the main and rolled over several times. Got enough air that a friend of ours went under him with no contact and my son barely got stopped without hitting him. Sean was primarily known for his feats at Petaluma Speedway, his home track, for never missing a Super Stock/Pro Stock race from 1980-2022 when a motorcycle accident put an end to the streak of over 800. He ended with 898 races in the class. The McCoy family is well respected at Petaluma and an annual memorial race is dedicated to his late father, Bob, who was active for years as a driver and many more years as a push track guy. Sean's wife, Beckey, currently is in charge of the push vehicle guys. Sean also ran a Dwarf car and was well known as one of the good guys and passed away 3 days shy of his 65th birthday. We've all been shaken up by this and that's why I haven't written this up earlier.
