    Ponderosa Speedway-Friday August 4-$1,000 to win Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified Series

    Ponderosa and Brownstown Speedways up next for Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Series August 4-5

    SOMERSET, KY (July 30, 2017)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Models will be back in action on Friday and Saturday August 4 and 5 for a double-header weekend. The Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will also have one event for Friday Night.

    On Friday August 4, the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Models will race 30 laps for $3,000-to-win during the 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial race. In addition, the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will race 20 laps for $1,000-to-win. The Crate Late Models, KDRA Super Stocks, Stock Four Cylinders and Mini Cups will race on Friday night. At Ponderosa Speedway, the pit gates will open at 4:00 pm, the drivers meeting will be at 7:00 pm with hot laps to follow. General admission is $20.00 per person while adult pit passes are $35.00. All times are Eastern.

    On Saturday August 5, the Super Late Model tour will make it’s first-ever visit to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind. The race will pay $5,000-to-win and the feature distance is 40 laps at the Jim Price-promoted race track located at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The Indiana Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks will also race at Brownstown. At Brownstown Speedway, the pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the drivers meeting will be at 5:30 pm with hot laps to follow at 6:00 pm. Main gate admission at the Fairgrounds/Speedway entrance is $20.00 per person and there is an additional $15.00 at the pit gate. All times are Eastern.

    Race teams and fans are reminded this weekend of possible traffic problems as the 127 Yard Sale is going on and could cause delays in traveling to the track.

    The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series will sanction the Late Model portion of the program Friday at Ponderosa and Saturday at Brownstown Speedway and the entry fee for the Late Model division will be $50.00. The tire rule for Friday at Ponderosa Speedway will be Hoosier 1350/1600 and American Racer 48/56. The tire rule for Brownstown Speedway Saturday will be Hoosier 1350 and American Racer 48 on the fronts and left rear. The right rear tire rule will be Hoosier 1350, 21, L03, 1600 and LM40 along with the American Racer 48 and 56.Tire samples will be taken and any driver that has tire samples taken will have their prize money held by the series until the tire test results have been reported by the testing lab.

    The Late Model car and driver weight rules for these events will be as follows: 2350 lbs. for an Open Motor, 2300 lbs. for a Steel Block/Aluminum Head - Spec Motor Only (8" spoiler allowed, 12" sides), 2250 lbs. for a CT525 Motor (8" spoiler allowed) and 2250 lbs. for an all Steel Motor or Crate Motor (8" spoiler allowed, 12" sides). There will be a pound per lap burnoff plus 5 lbs. in Heats, Conseys and Feature event each night.

    The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the event on Friday Night August 4 at Ponderosa Speedway and the entry fee for the Open Wheel Modified division will be $20 and the tire rule will be as follows: Front- Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60 (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season); Rear- Hoosier A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, M-60 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard with no grooving allowed. The only tires that can be siped on the rear is the Hoosier M-60 and American Racer Extra Hard. The car and driver weight rule for the Open Wheel Modified division is 2400 lbs.

    In the most recent Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series event, Freddie Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.V. captured the 30th Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial victory at Richmond (KY) Raceway on July 22 pocketing $10,059 while Devin Gilpin of Columbus, Ind. took home the $1,259 payday in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series event at Richmond.

    Youngster Carder Miller of Salem. Va. currently leads the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model points heading into this weekend’s double-header at Ponderosa and Brownstown over Andy Standridge of Tellico Plains, Tenn. and Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. Hudson O’Neal is the most recent winner at Brownstown as he captured the Paul Crockett Memorial last Saturday.

    Blake Brown of Corbin, Ky. leads the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series over Shon Flanary of Surgoinsville, Tenn. and Chris Kirk of Clay City, Ky.

    There have been eight different winners in eight Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model events held. Shanon Buckingham, Kenny Collins, David Payne, Tyler Carpenter, Tommy Kerr, Chris Combs, Vic Hill and Freddie Carpenter have all been victorious. There have been six different winners in seven Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified races as Brad Hall, Clayton Miller (twice), Shon Flanary, Keith Smith, Blake Brown and Devin Gilpin have all been to victory lane.
