    Gas City I-69 speedway re-opens with former Speedway Motorsports INC. Jerry Gappens

    Gas City I-69 Speedway re-opens with former Speedway Motorsports Inc. Executive Jerry Gappens leasing the Indiana oval. Gappens has worked New Hampshire Motor Speedway & Charlotte Motor Speedway as an executive at both tracks. Race dates for both USAC Indiana Midget Week & USAC Indiana Sprint Week have already been set.

              At one time it was one of the better prepared dirt tracks and one of the more highly regarded, as well.

              Hopefully it can return to the glory days.

                  Key word, "was"... I had no idea it had fallen out of favor, only seen it on video during Indiana Sprint Week.

                      I'm not exactly sure what happened. Gas City was featured in Sprint Car & Midget magazine several years ago and the people that owned it at that time put huge emphasis on quality of track prep. We used to stop at GC on the way to the World Hundred over at Eldora back when the World was just a 2 day show. The grandstands leave a bit to be desired but the racing was superb. At least the times we stopped there.
