War wildcard kicks off season at fayette county speedway

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 7, 2018) – The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League’s season has taken off with four events in the record books so far for 2018. Meanwhile the more Eastern based WAR Wildcard schedule has been hindered due to an uncooperative Mother Nature. But, that all changes this weekend.

Saturday, May 12 the WAR Wildcard Sprints will invade Brownstown, Illinois and travel to Fayette County Speedway for their season opening event which will also be recorded for an episode of "Dirty 30" that will air on national television on MAVTV at a later date.

This will be the second trip to Fayette County Speedway in league history. Last year Chris Windom came home victorious in his home state. The ¼ mile, high-banked bullring was the perfect stage for side-by-side non-wing action.

Cage, I don't even pretend to imply that I know 1/100th of what Casey Shuman knows about running a dirt open wheel sanction but it does seem a bit odd that Casey would schedule a POWRi/WAR sprint car race less than 60 miles straight south of Macon. Macon is hosting a POWRi National Midget event the same night (May 12th) as the WAR sprinters are racing at Brownstown, IL. We'll probably go to Macon but I'd sure like to got to Brownstown to see the sprinters.

Oh well, I reckon Casey knows what he'd doin'.

I have no idea why, but maybe it was because of a schedule conflict arising from so many rain outs and the fact that the WAR event is going to be recorded for MavTV.

Cage, I don't believe either event is a rainout makeup show. I'm pretty sure they were originally scheduled as they are going to be run. It just seems a bit odd since both divisions are run under the POWRi umbrella. The fan crossover between WAR Sprint cars and POWRi National Midgets is somewhat significant.
