I am running a 604 Fastrak legal crate engine, 7al-2 MSD on E-85...

Any cost-saving alternatives that won't compromise much?

What's wrong with running an optima battery and an alternator?

Nice ? Yes. Needed? No. Optima red top here, no alternator. The battery is about 8 seasons old now

We run an Optima red top with an alternator on our crate car.
I can start the motor with the car in high gear and it takes off without thinking twice.
