602 valve springs

I know, this is another good old valve spring topic. I won last saturday with 4 race old GM valve springs, they actually checked out between 55 and 60 pounds. The third place guy, suprise suprise, checked out at 100 pounds. He is the tracks golden boy so hes not getting dqed, but how can i go about finding gm springs that actually rate at the advertised 80 pounds? any ideas?

Hendren said it would take him 6-7 sets to go thru and find a set he liked from gm springs.

They will rate at 80 pounds out of the box in my experience. If your tech guy is using a the on-head type tester and testing them hot, they will show lighter than what they really are. Our usually test down around 65 to 70 after the race. Of course, that means the other guy is clearly using illegal springs.
