I don't think you could go wrong with updating to a ball spline, plus 2nd generation is a little lighter. At our local track just this past weekend a guy sat on pole, lead the first 15 lap's of the main and was well on his way to a win until his driveshaft pulled out of his transmission, had he been running the ball spline this wouldn't have happened. I run the ball spline and have had no trouble. hope this helps.
