602 flywheel question

so i am going with a 602 crate this year and would like to continue to run the quick time lightweight flywheel we have always ran on our steelheads but were unsure if we need to run some type of balance plate like guys run on a 383 or 400. we plan on getting a reverse mount setup for next year but its just not in the budget this year.

The ballance of the crate is NOT the same as the older 2 piece crank shaft. Also the bolt hole pattern is different. You would only be able to run a like flywheel if you bought a new one for the crate.

you are correct but that is to be used with their LW flexplate that does not have a weight.

the GM crate engine and all SB chevy 1 piece seal engines (86 up) require a flywheel with the new style bolt pattern

the older flywheels will not even bolt on and the GM 602 and 604 engines require an external weight.

Get on the Late Model Racer board and post it. I know that a lot of the S/S guys run the 5.5 and 7.25 clutches on that flex plate
