I have heard rumors that the better gm valve springs were made in Germany and now are made in Mexico and have gotten worse. Can anyone say if this is the case or not? All I have heard is rumors. Thanks

I have been purchasing 604 valve springs since 2002-2003 and I can tell you there have been 5 changes in manufacturers and almost as many changes in the wire used in the springs.
The German springs are by far the best of the bunch. US Second and hecho Mexico a distant 3rd. In that regard I developed what is now an 11 step process to treat Springs, retainers and locks. Results are pretty dramatic from 5000-6800rpms.
I used to sell a ton of them to Pavement racers but then the rules changed to allow conicals. My stuff still produces more HP from 4500-6500, but most folks are convinced conicals are better.
I probably have 40 sets of German springs left as they are a premium item.
After the treatment process even the Mexican springs are very good they just don't last as long.
When I process the springs I eliminating as much odd order harmonics as possible as they suck the energy out of the spring making it impossible to do its job above 5000rpm. In most cases I lose a couple pounds of seat pressure but that is only a marginal amount as there are 3-4 other areas way more critical to a spring controlling the 604 valve than seat pressure. Springs can be re-treated after about 10 races to maintain 100% reliability,most sets will take 3-4 treatments until they start to embrittle.
I have been selling the springs for 9 years now and have never had a spring related engine failure and have sold more than 2500 sets.
