welcome 9mdad
in your situation it might just be benificial to purchase a 602
folks will come on after me I am sure and say don't waste your money on the 602 but to begin the learning curve it might be a good way to go.
the 602--604 power difference is significant and the weight breaks (IMO) do not offer enough compensation however they are close enough to compete on the same race track.
something else to keep in mind -----new drivers tend to slow down too much---the 602 will pick back up from a low RPM better than a 604 ----the dual plain intake manifold is the main reason for that
also the $2000 difference in price can go towards safety equipment or tires etc. etc. etc.
there is a market for used 602's so if you take care of it you will be able to recoup at least half of your investment back if not more

That is some sound advice, from a credible source. There will be other opinions, but you can't go wrong with what he said.Crew Chief "Tip of the day":
Most handling problems can be solved by adjusting the screw-ball. It can be difficult to fine tune at times. Explaining yourself loudly and striking it on top of the helmet with a dead blow hammer usually works well.
