    604 on Methanol

Anyone have any experience with a 604 on methanol? IMCA has been testing a 604 in a modified and it is looking like it will be an option next year. They say they are running it on methanol. I was just curious what kind of life expectancy would you have vs. running gas? Also, what differences in plugs/timing to get the most power?

I don't guess the life expectancy would be any different if you know how to take car of a methanol powered engine.
Plugs and tuning will depend on the tune...
That is like asking a runner which shoe is fastest ???

Your best course of action would be to get a head start with someone already building 604's and work with them.

I am already testing a couple 604's for IMCA customers on both gas and alcohol. Carb, headers and ignition systems like always make a big difference.

Methanol likes a different tune than gas and getting a handle on the fuel curve depends a lot on how the driver drives. Like any other fuel it has advantages and dis-advatages.

I would recommend talking to somebody that races the stuff regularly to find out about the maintianance issues as you will need to address everything in your fuel system to make sure it is Meth tolerant.

My customers get a list of how to maintain their engines, carburetors and fuel system if they run Alcohol.

Good luck with your crate racing next year.
