    GM BEE-HIVE 604 spring Bullitin

    PRODUCT BULLITIN

GM 604 Retrofit Bee-Hive Spring Kit

The “new” GM upgrade keeper and retainer package may have some clearance issues when used with the old style rocker arm.

The old style rocker arm was used on engines built prior to 2010 however could possibly be on any 604 due to replacement of warn or broken parts.

The “old style” rocker can be identified by its thrust washers beside the roller.

New style rockers have a one piece roller that incorporates the alignment of the rocker without thrust washers.

In all cases it is recommended to check for clearance between the rocker and retainer at full lift during installation.

we will have pictures up on the front page of our website ASAP

We want to thank Mike Ingram of Ingram racing engines for bring this to the attention of the racing community.

pictures are up on our website-----

the pic of the old style rocker on the engine is the most severe case I could find.

**note** the problem does NOT occur with all old syle rocker arms however ALL the old style rockers do have less clearance than the new style

after many hours of research last night it appears that the old style rocker must have had more of a manufacturing tolerance with roller location than the new style

the problem will be most apparant on the intake valve

      Brad,
Do you have the part number for the new style rocker arm (single rocker arm, not complete set)?

      Thanks,
      Matt

        Matt,
the individual price is so much higher than kit form that I just buy kits and break em down

        complete kit is $341
        each would be $22

I will look for the number but bet they will be double that in cost

just booting this back to the top ------many folks are realizing that they have issues and we have avoided quite a few failures with this announcement

if you know someone with an older engine that has made the switch to the bee-hive spring, please make them aware that they could have a problem.
