R2C airfilter bases

Has anyone compared these to the standard bases on the dyno. Just curious to see if what R2C claims on their bases is true.

No B.S. Best we ever tried and we did many pulls. I can find the sheets but I believe we were up 11 at the wheels with the shorter open one.

HVH had a new spacer out at the CARS show in charlotte. Had a Reversion plate look machined in it. Cant find info on it though

Joe from HVH said they have a new design 604 spacer coming out soon. that may be what you saw.

We've been working with Joe & Keith on this design. The one you saw at the show was the first one with their modifications from the prototype we sent them. We are still testing with it, since it changes some carb setting's. We want to be able to tell consumers exactly what they need to do when they use one of these.

We had their two barrel offset base on another car. Worked real well.

the 3 different designs do have performance differences as well as clearence.

we always prefer the added clearence with our air cleaner set-ups so we primarily use the tall base which only comes in an open version----however in most of our testing that has been the best on a 604 crate engine anyway.

the 4 hole design has produced some benefits on a 604 but was dependant on carburetor design and the tall open was still close in numbers

for 604 crate engines --stick with the open tall design--- its easy power JMO

Base testing:

We have had the pleasure of working with a group of the best engine builders and tuners across the country and their test results across a wide range of applications have allowed us to determine the best performing bases for each application. Collectively, well over 1000 dyno pulls have been conducted.

Crate applications have performed very well using base AC10617. This base drops the filter 3/8" below the carburetor flange. It also clears even the largest throttle linkage in use. AC10615 drops the filter 1 3/8" below the flange and has also been an excellent performer on 602, 604 and CT525 engines. The further drop can affect the clearance at the linkage if an abnormally large bracket is being utilized. It does lower the filter height over the hood in the event visibility is an issue. Many 650-725 HP Modified engines have performed really well using the AC10615.

We provide builders and tuners a test system that allows interchange between the base and the center configuration, allowing them to test each car to determine which base performs best.

The 4 hole AC10616 tends to outperform the open bases during high RPM use, exceeding what any Crate and most Modified engines will attain. It gives up torque to the open bases between 4000-7500 RPM but still outperforms any aluminum base version we've tested in that power band.

These bases allow precision race carburetors to perform as designed. They can also discover carburetors that don't react well to various velocity/pressure changes across the booster. This criteria is essential in quality main metering system performance.
