Buying USED 5 wide hubs?

Ok guys I am new to late model racing essentially. As a driver! To save a dollar racing I have been looking at a set of some 5 wide hubs that a guy is selling on a facebook page. Before I commit to the purchase I would like to know if there are some things I should watch out for when I am looking at them. Like I figured where the bearings and seals sit would be a major place but what else should I be looking for. Also is $45 per hub (Wilwood) a good price? The guy is getting out of the sport to spend more time as a family man.

One lap and everything on the car is used. Don't let that deter you from buying used stuff. Buy what you can afford.

Lots of used stuff right here on 4M… I'be bought a few things from members here this winter and have been very happy with the parts. Look the stuff over or get good photos. There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of used race parts sites on Facebook. I buy and sell a few parts on my local FB pages.

Check behind the hubs spokes Two of mine were cracked. Fluid/ grease then leaks out and looks wet. Wipe off. Pretty easy to see

Check stud holes good for wear usually bent wheels are pretty easy to spot hubs need to be looked over a little closer but there's nothing wrong with buying either used as far as price on hubs depends on age 45 is a little on the cheap side imo

Hubs are probably one of the things I wouldn't bug used, but if you really need to do yourself a favor and at least buy a new one for the RF then keep the other one as a spare. I think you could get away with breaking any corner without crashing too bad but break a RF on entry at a high speed track and it can kill a car. Also, just as the previous poster pictured, watch the area where the spokes meet the inner side as that's where they typically break..

check the threads where the rotors bolts up and if it's a rear hub where the drive flange bolts up. also check the ears where the rotors bolts for cracks or where the rotors seat to see if they are chipped. make sure the races aren't messed up or where the seals sit.
