RPM drop with 20 point less gear

Car is turned 7040 on fast high banked 1\2 mile with 6.18 gear picked up a 5.97 tonite how much rpm drop can we expect .I think I was told or read somewhere 20 points of gear was around 400 rpm right or wrong. It is not a crate motor but car set up is very similar to crate car as HP is probably 350 or so need to get rpm down to 6400 to 6600 for me to feel safe with engine thanks.

if all circumstances are the same you will turn 6800 with a 5.97. be careful you are not exiting the corning above your peak torque. if you are your high rpm is not going to reflect where you actually need to be. you'll be dead heading the motor all the way down the straightaway and not accelerating.

That's what I am worried about motor is literally a 1500 grenade unbalanced 350 speedpro hypers basically a claimer type engine. We made a bunch of changes to car over winter my son is now picking up throttle on back of corner making straightaway much longer causing the extra rpm.We were only turning 6400 or so with 6.31 and 6.48 last year same track the car just keeps getting faster as I take gear out we have no spare right now so this one needs to last .
